5 DM Scripts That Actually Book Fitness Coaching Calls (Copy & Paste)
The exact word-for-word DM scripts top fitness coaches use to open conversations, handle objections, and close calls — without coming across as pushy or salesy.
Most fitness coaches DM leads the same way: "Hey! Loved your post — have you thought about working with a coach?" It feels spammy because it is spammy. The lead ignores it, you feel awkward, and you move on.
The coaches booking the most calls from Instagram DMs are using a completely different approach. These are the exact scripts they use — organised by stage of the conversation.
Script 1: The opener (for inbound DMs)
When someone DMs you first — after a story, a post, or a reel — this is your first reply. The goal is to acknowledge them warmly and open a real conversation, not pitch.
"hey! glad you reached out 👊 what made you message — are you thinking about doing something about [their goal] right now or just looking into it?"
Why this works: it's low pressure, it's conversational, and it immediately starts a qualifying conversation. "Right now or just looking into it" separates hot leads from cold ones in one message.
Script 2: The situation question
Once they've engaged, your job is to understand where they are before you say anything about what you offer.
"what does your training look like right now — are you doing anything structured or starting from scratch?"
One question. Never two. Each message should move the conversation forward by exactly one step. The moment you stack two questions, the lead answers the easier one and the conversation stalls.
Script 3: The problem + implication
Once you understand their situation, surface what's actually not working. This is the most important part of the conversation — the lead needs to articulate their own pain before they'll be motivated to do anything about it.
"what's been the main thing stopping you from getting results on your own so far?"
[After they answer] "and how long has that been going on? like is this something you've been dealing with for a while?"
Now they've said it themselves. They're invested. You haven't mentioned your programme once.
Script 4: The objection handle (price)
The most common objection is "it's too expensive" or "I need to think about it." Here's the script that reframes it without being defensive:
"totally get it — what specifically feels unclear? is it the investment, or is it more about whether this is the right time?"
This splits the objection into two things: cost (which is about money) and timing (which is about confidence). Most "it's too expensive" objections are actually "I'm not sure I'll get results." Knowing which one you're dealing with changes everything.
Script 5: The call close
When the lead is qualified and warm, close for the call — not the sale. The call is where you close the sale.
"i've got a couple of spots open for discovery calls this week — it's 20 minutes, no pressure, just want to see if what I do actually makes sense for where you're at. would that work?"
[When they say yes] "perfect 👊 here's the link — pick whatever works: [calendly link]"
The problem with doing this manually
These scripts work. The problem is executing them across 30–50 DMs a day while also training, coaching, and creating content.
The coaches running these conversations at scale use AI to run the first 4–6 messages automatically. The AI handles the opener, the situation questions, the problem exploration, and the objection handling. The coach only steps in when a lead is ready to book — which is when their time is actually worth spending.
DM Flow trains on your exact scripts and objection handles, then runs these conversations for you — 24/7, on every platform. 7-day free trial.
